Admissions/Registration

Admissions

You are eligible for admission to one of the four UH System universities if you have completed most of the lower-level courses in your chosen degree or have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Admission to the UH System at Cinco Ranch begins with choosing the degree you want to pursue. An academic advisor can help plan the best route in selecting and completing your degree. Click here to see the degrees we offer.

After selecting a degree, apply to the university offering the degree. The university that offers your degree will become your home university and will assist in your application process. Undergraduate students may also obtain an application at www.applytexas.org. Along with an application, send official sealed transcripts from all colleges you have attended to your home university. Graduate students must also submit degree-appropriate graduate exam scores.

TASP has changed its name! The new name for TASP is THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment). THEA has been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, under Senate Bill 286, Texas Education Code, Section 51.3062. THEA provides the diagnostic data required by this legislation. For information on THEA, go to www.thea.nesinc.com.

Our Facilities

The UH System at Cinco Ranch is in a 36,000-square-foot building with twenty-five classrooms, computer and multimedia labs, videoconference rooms, and a state-of-the-art virtual library. Computer support services are available from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Delivery of Classes

Courses at the UH System at Cinco Ranch are delivered through multiple methods. While many classes offered are face-to-face, where the instructor and students interact in a campus classroom, other classes may be delivered by a variety of telecommunications methods. Interactive Television (ITV) provides for two-way audio and videoconferencing with Cinco Ranch students, the instructor, and students at other locations. In addition, some classes are offered for home viewing on KUHT-TV (HoustonPBS Channel 8) and cable, while others are on videotapes that can be purchased for viewing at home or borrowed for viewing at the teaching center. Online classes are another popular option for individuals who enjoy interacting with their instructor and other students on their home computer, at work, or in our computer lab.

Attending classes at the UH System at Cinco Ranch does not mean you can’t work full time. Face-to-face and ITV courses are scheduled during the day and in the evenings. And, because many courses are on videotape, broadcast TV, or online, students can choose the time and day they want to attend classes.

Whatever method of instruction you prefer, you will find plenty of help and support from your instructor and the teaching center’s staff.
