This form is used to apply for an individual computer account on the UH System at Cinco Ranch (UHSCR) campus. After submitting this form, it may take up to 48 hours (not including weekends or holidays) for the account to be created. You may use the computers in the Library until your account is created but will not be able to print until you have your print allowance with your individual account.

Once the account is created, you will be notified by e-mail. You will also be given instructions on how to activate your account. Account activation can only be done in-person at the UHSCR campus.

Students MUST have an active e-mail address to have a computer account. Notification of account creation, account renewal and important information is sent by e-mail. Applications submitted without an active e-mail address will not be processed.

UHSCR is not responsible for students not receiving notices from UHSCR due to inaccurate, inactive, or otherwise unserviceable e-mail accounts.

REGULATIONS FOR USING ACADEMIC COMPUTING
FACILITIES AND RESOURCES AT UHSCR

The following regulations apply to all computer labs and computing resources on the University of Houston System at Cinco Ranch campus. They do not cover every possible situation and the technical staff has latitude in making judgments that meet a particular situation that is not listed here.

  • Only currently enrolled UHSCR students and current UHSCR faculty and staff may use the labs. Alumni and students at a UH System university who are not taking classes at the Cinco Ranch campus may be allowed usage upon approval of the Technical Services Manager or Network Administrator.

  • Lab hardware and software is to be used for educational purposes only and is not available for private or commercial use.

  • Users may not violate the privacy and security of other users' work, files, CD's, disks, passwords, etc.

  • Users may not violate the copyright of software, data, audio, or video.

  • Users may not bring food, drink, or tobacco products near the workstations. Please use the designated areas

  • Users will not introduce computer viruses into UHSCR computer network.

  • Users may not use abusive or foul language or exhibit disruptive behavior in the labs. Group communication must be kept at a low audio level. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Modifying computer system files or system settings on any workstation in the labs is not permitted. Users are also not permitted to install programs on the workstations or server. Data files should be saved on the network file server (Z:/ drive) or on the individual's floppy disk, CD, or zip disk NOT on the desktop.

  • Playing games is not permitted.

  • Internet usage is available for academic and educational purposes only. Chat rooms, network game playing, and pornography in any form is not permitted.

  • CD-RW and DVD-RW drives are for educational use only and are not to be used for creating CD's or DVD's for personal use. They are also not to be used to copy copyrighted software, media (audio or video), or text. Copyright protection will be strictly enforced.

  • Report any suspected problems with equipment or software to the technical staff. Do not attempt to repair or disassemble any lab equipment.

  • Unattended children are not permitted in the lab. There are no exceptions to this!

  • Conversations on cellular phones are not permitted in the labs. If you make or receive a phone call, please exit the lab and conduct the conversation outside.

Violators of the above regulations may be asked to leave the lab facilities. In addition, any individual who violates these regulations may have their lab privileges revoked for a set period of time or indefinitely. Actions that are a violation of any UH System university's policy will be reported to the appropriate university official for possible disciplinary action.
