Admissions

You are eligible for admission to one of the four UH System universities if you have completed most of the lower-level (freshman/sophomore) courses in your chosen degree or have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Admission begins with choosing the degree you want to pursue. Academic advisors can help plan the best route to selecting and completing your degree.

After selecting a degree program, contact an academic advisor (by phone or e-mail) from the university offering the degree. This university will become your “home university” and will assist in your application process. Undergraduate students mayalso obtain an application at https://www.applytexas.org. Along with an application, send official sealed transcripts from all colleges you have attended to your home university. Graduate students must also submit scores from the appropriate graduate exams.

Registration

Course registration is quick and easy when you use your home university's online or telephone registration systems. As these systems are available only during scheduled times, check your home university's calendar for your registration window.

When making an appointment, please be prepared to indicate the degree program you wish to pursue. When conferring with an advisor, opened, unofficial copies of transcripts may be used. Only unopened, official transcripts in sealed envelopes, however, are acceptable when applying for admission. If you are undecided about the degree to pursue, e-mail your concerns to a general advisor at advisorcr@uh.edu.

All Texas teacher certification candidates must take and pass all sections of the THEA.
In general, all students seeking a master’s degree must submit test scores taken within the last five years. MBA students must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Counseling majors may take either the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Most other master's require the GRE. International students must submit satisfactory scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

ID Cards

All students on campus are required to carry university ID cards and present them upon request by university personnel. Uniformed security officers are on duty throughout hours of operation and are generally responsible for clearing the building and securing the doors every evening. If a student is injured on UHS-CR grounds he or she is responsible for requesting and filling out an incident report, available at either the administrative offices or the security guard station. In case of emergency, dial 911.
